How to make homemade pumpkin dog treats!

  • ½ cup canned pumpkin

  • ½ cup creamy natural peanut butter (make sure it does not contain xylitol)

  • 2 eggs

  • 1 ½ cup of whole wheat flour

  • 1 cup oats

  • ½ cup natural peanut butter (make sure it does not contain xylitol)

  • 2 ½ tsp whole wheat flour

  • 1 tbsp of water

  1. Preheat the oven to 350F and line a cookie sheet with parchment paper

  2. With an electric mixer, beat together the pumpkin, peanut butter, and eggs until combined

  3. Gradually add in the whole wheat flour, and then the oats

  4. Transfer the dough to a well-floured countertop or surface and dust it with additional flour

  5. Knead gently as needed until it forms a cohesive ball

  6. Use a rolling pin to roll the dough out to ¼” thickness (If the dough seems too sticky to roll, dust it with more flour) and use a cookie cutter to cut it into shapes.

  7. Use a spatula to transfer the cookies to a baking sheet

  8. Bake on 350F for 20-24 minutes.

  9. Allow cookies to cool completely before serving or frosting.

  1. In a microwave, warm ½ cup of peanut butter for 15 seconds until it can be easily stirred

  2. Add water and stir well

  3. Add the flour and stir again

  4. While the icing is still warm, spread it over the cooled cookies. Re-heat for another 10 seconds if it becomes too difficult to spread

  5. Note that the frosting will harden a bit as allowed to sit, but can be served to your dog at any time!
